GO: Gene Ontology terms on Xenbase

As part of the updates to Xenbase v4.2, please find enhanced Gene Ontology (GO) terms associated with Xenopus genes.

We added a tab accessible on gene pages.

There will be gene product function terms associated with the three major sections of the GO currently sourced from the UniProt Knowledge Base (UniProtKB):

&nbsp,&nbsp,&nbsp,&nbsp, - Molecular Function

&nbsp,&nbsp,&nbsp,&nbsp, - Biological Process

&nbsp,&nbsp,&nbsp,&nbsp, - Cellular Component

As of posting this announcement:

Number of X. laevis genes that are associated with GO terms = 8364
Number of X. tropicalis genes that are associated with GO terms = 7414

Average number of GO terms associated with a X. tropicalis gene (only includes those which have GO terms) = 3.88
Average number of GO terms associated with a X. laevis gene (only includes those which have GO terms) = 3.7

Maximum # of GO terms associated with a X. tropicalis gene = 89&nbsp,&nbsp,&nbsp,&nbsp, [fmr1]
Maximum # of GO terms associated with a X. laevis gene = 82&nbsp,&nbsp,&nbsp,&nbsp, [fmr1.S, fmr1.L]

As we develop this feature, we will continue to coordinate with the GO Consortium for reciprocal data exchange. We will manually add GO annotations based on the published literature.
