Call for Papers – Infectious Disease: Evolution, Mechanism and Global Health

https://journals.biologists.com/dmm/pages/infectious-disease

Disease Models & Mechanisms (DMM) invites you to submit your latest research to our upcoming special issue: Infectious Disease: Evolution, Mechanism and Global Health. This issue will be coordinated by DMM Editors Sumana Sanyal (University of Oxford, UK) and David Tobin (Duke University, USA), alongside Guest Editors Judi Allen (The University of Manchester, UK) and Russell Vance (University of California, Berkeley, USA).

The deadline for submitting articles has been extended to Monday 24 February 2025*.

Infectious diseases continue to be an urgent global health concern. To combat this, there is growing appreciation of the critical interactions between pathogen and host that lead to disease, tolerance or resolution for SARS-CoV-2, tuberculosis, HIV, malaria and other infectious diseases. Understanding these interactions provides insights into (i) the key host defences that successfully limit the pathogen, (ii) the mechanisms by which pathogens have subverted and overcome these defences, (iii) new opportunities for therapies, and (iv) the origins, emergence and evolution of novel pathogens. DMM welcomes studies using a range of model systems and approaches that expand our understanding of the molecular arms race that occurs between host and pathogen, to foster meaningful clinical progress in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious disease.

We invite you to showcase your breakthrough research in this special issue. Submissions should describe original research in the form of a Research Article or Resources & Methods article**. Please read the author guidelines for information on preparing a manuscript for DMM, and submit your manuscript via our online submission system. Please highlight that your submission is to be considered for the special issue in your cover letter. Prospective authors are welcome to send presubmission enquiries, or direct any queries, to dmmreviews@biologists.com.

The special issue is scheduled for publication in summer 2025, although note that our continuous publication model means that DMM will publish your article as soon as it is accepted; you will not have to wait for the rest of the issue to be ready. The special issue will be widely promoted online and at key global conferences, guaranteeing maximum exposure for your work.
