Histones in the wild-type and the anucleolate mutant of Xenopus laevis.

Berlowitz L , Birnstiel ML .

???displayArticle.abstract???
A comparison of anucleolate mutant and wild-type tadpoles of Xenopus laevis reveals striking differences in histones. In the mutant, synthesis of histone fractions I and IIb is virtually absent and IIa is reduced, while fractions III and IV are significantly increased.
