(C and D) Whole-mount in situ hybridization of Fmr1 and AP-2α at early-mid tailbud stage (lateral view). Both Fmr1 (C) and AP-2α (D) show robust expression in the cranial crests (m, mandibular; h, hyoid and b, branchial). The eye and the CNS display higher transcript levels of Fmr1 than AP-2α at this stage. Cement gland is negative for both Fmr1 and AP-2α transcripts |
