The dennd11 protein functions as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) for the small GTPase Rab35. It localizes to the cytoplasm and the midbody during cytokinesis, where it is required for the abscission stage of cell division in eggs and early embryos. Its activity regulates endocytic recycling and is necessary for successful cleavage furrow ingression and completion of cytokinesis in blastomeres.
