Name: Shreyasi Mukherjee
Position: Graduate Student (PhD)
Research Description:
Shreyasi earned her Bachelor degree in Biochemistry and Genetics from Bangalore, India and a Master’s degree in Neuroscience from the University of Edinburgh, UK. She then worked as a Research Assistant at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology in Hyderabad, India, where she used Drosophila genetics and genomic approaches to study the mechanisms underlying stress-induced disruptions in the epigenetic inheritance of heterochromatin. Currently, Shreyasi is a graduate student in the Molecular and Developmental Biology PhD program and joined the Zorn Lab in 2018. In the Zorn Lab, she studies the Wnt signaling pathway and her research focuses on understanding how the transcriptional output of this pathway is specified in a context-dependent manner through beta-catenin interactions on chromatin. She uses a combination of genomic technologies and bioinformatic approaches to study how lineage-specific Sox transcription factors regulate Wnt/beta-catenin mediated transcription during endoderm development. Her research interests include transcriptional regulation, chromatin biology and regulatory genomics.
