Seminiferous tubules of the testes. The seminiferous tubules are surrounded by loose connective tissue and this area is called the intertubular space. In this speciment the space between each seminiferous tubule and the connective tissue of the intertubular space is an artifact of the paraffin embedding process. The seminiferous tubules are confluent with the straight tubules (also called tubuli recti) through which the spermatids travel to the rete testes of the mediastinum and from there will exit the testes.
