High magnification of renal cortex. In addition to proximal and vital convoluted tubules and renal corpuscles, collecting tubules are also located in the renal cortex (and in the medulla). The cells compromising the collecting tubules are cuboidal epithelial cells and mucus-secreting cells called flask cells.
